I have to admit, I don’t go through my postal mail every single day. In fact, I typically let it sit for about a week at a time. I’m then left with the horrific task of picking up that big pile of envelopes and fliers that makes me feel super-duper important, and going through it all as I binge-watch something from my DVR.
I am always shocked at the insanely huge pile of papers that ultimately ends up in my junk pile. Out of that huge mountain of mail I get during the course of the week, only about four or five pieces end up being things that I need — like bills, magazines or other reading material. And even with those pieces, I still feel kind of bad because I should sign up for them electronically, but just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
If you’re a Highmark health plan member, you receive a paper copy of our member newsletter once a year. This may not sound like much, but multiply that by the number of Highmark members (about 5.3 million), and you’re left with a heck of a lot of information-on-paper during the course of just one year.
By signing up to receive your member newsletter electronically (or, in other words, to “go paperless”), you can:
Once you log in, you’ll see the Go Paperless prompt in the middle of the page. Just click the Change Your Settings link directly beneath Go Paperless. You’ll be routed to a page that allows you to change your settings for all paper communications Highmark sends to you.
You can actually go ahead and select the Go Green check box at the top of the page, and all communications will come to you electronically moving forward. But if you’re not yet ready to take the plunge, you can just select the Member Newsletter, a little bit further down the page.
And that’s it! We understand that navigating the website can be kind of confusing, though, if you’re not very familiar with it. So we’ve created this video to walk you through the process.
If you have a member service question that involves personal health or insurance information, do not use the "comments" feature; please call the number on the back of your Member ID card.
